Emily and I are always fascinated with how the living room is in shambles after only an hour in there with a toddler. I thought it might be interesting to utilize my Foscam IP camera and make a time lapse video of the evening. So, I setup a quick Python script to save images from the camera at the desired interval, and then stitched them together with Time Lapse Assembler (Free / Mac OS).
At the very end, after we left the room, we caught a very mischievous feline drinking out of one of our water glasses… Maybe I shouldn’t be setting up cameras anymore.
Here is the Python script for anyone that can get some amusement out of it:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
#! /usr/bin/env python import datetime, urllib, time # run loop 720 times for i in range(1, 720): now = datetime.datetime.now() urllib.urlretrieve ("http://webcam/snapshot.cgi?user=me&pwd=secrets", now.strftime("%Y%m%d%H%M%S") + ".jpg") time.sleep(5)
